Support from Major of London for Wood Burning Stoves

After being widely misquoted as calling for a ban on wood burning stoves, the Major of London, Sadiq Khan, has commission two adverts promoting the use of Ecodesign Ready stoves and Ready to Burn logs.

Sadiq Khan said “During the recent cold weather, we want to ensure that air pollution caused by wood burning across the capital is kept to a minimum. The industry is already doing great work in developing less polluting Ready to Burn wood and low-emission stoves, but increased efforts needs to be made in raising awareness of these new designs, so Londoners have the right information they need to make the right choice. That is why I am supporting this campaign, and the industry’s efforts, to clean up our filthy air. If you burn wood this coming winter, make sure you use the right fuel and the right kit – you can make a hugh difference”.

An Ecodesign Ready stoves can reduce emissions by up to 90% compared to an open fire and burning dry wood also has an impact on the emissions produced. At Iron and Wood we have a number of Contura Ecodesign Ready stoves on display in our Banbury showroom.

We have always encouraged the use of Ready to Burn wood and are able to offer a range of log stores to enable you to purchase wood at any time of the year ready for burning once the colder weather returns.

Please visit our showrooms in Banbury and Kidlington for further details of log stores and Ecodesign Ready Stoves.
