Ecofans are used to circulate warm air throughout the room to increase your comfort and reduce fuel usage. These fans are designed to sit on top of your stove and create their own electricity without using any household energy or batteries. They start automatically when placed on top of the stove and adjust their speed with the stove temperature.
Ecofans are designed and made in Canada and the University of Waterloo, one of Canada’s leading technical universities, tested a genuine Canadian-made Ecofan and the results prove that using an Ecofan can reduce fuel usage by 14%.
How Ecofans Work
Ecofans use thermoelectric technology to convert a temperature difference into electricity. At the centre of an Ecofan is a unique thermoelectric module. The patented Ecofan design creates a hot side and a cold side on the module and when this happens a principle called the “Seebeck effect” cause electrons to flow within the module and electricity is generated to operate the fan. An Ecofan 810 moves 125 (CFM) cubic feet per minute.
Does an Ecofan Work?
We’ve been selling Ecofans for 6 years and have received only positive feedback and stories from our customers who have used them. I have an Ecofan on my 8kw Clearview stove in an inglenook fireplace and, prior to using the Ecofan, a lot of the heat would get trapped in the fireplace. Now, the Ecofan blows the heat out into the room and if we leave the door open it warms our dining room too. One of our customers used to find that their sitting room became unbearably hot but now that they’re using an Ecofan, the heat is pushed out into their hall and up the stairs. Another customer said it was the best thing he’d ever bought after the stove. I could go on.
Ecofans are Expensive
A good quality stove supplied and fitted is an investment our customers make to not only add a focal point to their sitting room but to warm their house and reduce their heating bills and most customers find that the introduction of an Ecofan further adds to the stove benefits. Ecofan offer a quality stove fan that in tests out-performs cheaper alternatives. An Ecofan 810 pushes 35 CFM more than the next best fan and the 812 pushes 67 CFM more. Also both fans produce useful airflow at a lower stove temperature than their competitors. Together with a 2 year guarantee I believe an Ecofan offers good value for money.
